Simple curiosity and respect for past love got me to by the new Animal Lover CD.
After the last few albums, I was ready to forget about the Residents. Fearing future thoughts of "How far they fell".
I cannot say the new album is enough to heal the wounds from Deamons, but its a step in the right direction; many of the song's melodies slide around my skull.
I await the next release to decide if this was a one last gasp or the beginning of a new foundation.
Have the dead men really gotten out of way?

Re: Thoughts on Animal Lovers?
Wed, November 2, 2005 - 4:42 PMI picked this up yesterday and I'm completely impressed. I actually haven't heard Demons, or anything since God in Three Persons, so I can't say how it compares to recent material, but I think it is every bit as creepy, disturbing, and emotional as their best work. The instrumentation is diverse and very rich, and the occasional "electronica" beats work very well.
